Shri Charani created a unique record in her very first T20 series, the only Indian to do so

Even though the Indian women's cricket team lost the fifth T20 match against England at Edgbaston by five wickets, left-arm spinner Shri Charani achieved a unique feat in this series. 20-year-old Shri Charani made her T20 debut during this series. She played all five matches, taking 10 wickets with an average of 14.8.

With this, Shri Charani has jointly secured the top spot on the list of Indian women players with the most wickets in the T20 series. Besides Shri Charani, Radha Yadav also achieved the feat of taking 10 wickets in a single T20 series, doing so against Bangladesh in 2024. After Shri Charani and Radha Yadav, in this list is Deepti Sharma, who took 9 wickets in the same series against England. Charani debuted in the ODI format before the T20 series. She has played five ODIs in her career, taking six wickets. 

Charani took four wickets for 12 runs in the first match of the series against England. She then took two wickets each in the next three matches, but did not take any wickets in the last match. Team India won this series 3-2. 

In the fifth match at Edgbaston, India batted first, scoring 167 runs for seven wickets. Shefali Verma scored 75 off 41 balls, including one six and 13 fours. Charlie Dean took three wickets for England, while Sophie Ecclestone took two. England won in the last ball.

The opening pair gave England a strong start, with Sophia Dunkley and Danielle Wyatt-Hodge adding 101 runs in 10.4 overs. Dunkley scored 46 off 30 balls, and Danielle made 56 off 37 balls. Captain Tammy Beaumont contributed 30 runs. Deepti Sharma and Arundhati Reddy each took two wickets for India, while Radha Yadav claimed one.
