Samsung phones will get the new Android 16 update at this time, the company gave information

The next large operating system (OS) Android 16 update is going to arrive on Samsung Galaxy handsets 'this summer'. This has been confirmed by the company spokesperson in an appearance on The Android Show: I/O Edition on Tuesday. The event, conducted prior to Google's annual I/O 2025 developer conference, involved a number of announcements coupled with the provisional availability schedule of Android 16. The OS is set to reach stable status next month and thereafter become available not just for Pixel but Galaxy handsets as well.

The Android Show: Post-I/O edition saw the official Android channel on YouTube post a video with Samsung Vice President and Head of Smartphone Planning Minseok Kang. It explained the features that have landed on Galaxy devices as a result of the partnership of the two companies and some features that lie ahead.

Finally, the spokesperson confirmed that the 'all new' Android 16 firmware will arrive on Samsung Galaxy devices 'this summer'. While the exact release date was not given, it is expected to happen after the stable update rollout. Notably, Google has also confirmed that Android 16 will achieve stable status in June, after which developers can create custom skins for their devices and port it for release.
