Altman said that when users use words like 'Please', 'Thank You', ChatGPT has to understand these words and prepare a complete answer accordingly. This increases the processing load, which also increases the company's electricity and server costs.

On this issue, many design experts believe that talking to AI politely is the right habit. According to Microsoft design manager Curtis Beavers, "When you use polite and positive language, AI also tries to give cooperative and respectful answers." A memo from Microsoft WorkLab also stated that, "When AI recognizes courtesy in your questions, it answers in more professional and polite language." That is, the tone of your language also affects the answers of AI.

In fact, AI is a predictive system just like the auto-complete suggestions your phone gives you when you type, only in a much more intelligent form. So the quality, politeness, and clarity of your language directly impact the quality of AI responses as well.
