Record recovery in Jaipur Municipal Corporation: For the first time, Rs 88.34 crore was recovered on account of UDT

Jaipur Municipal Corporation has achieved a record recovery of Uditax this year. With this recovery, the danger of non-receipt of the grant on the Municipal Corporation was looming, it went away. Because in the past, the central government had asked all the urban bodies of the state to collect more than last year.
According to the report, in the last financial year 2021-22, both Municipal Corporations (Greater and Heritage) recovered UDAX of Rs 72.92 crore, but in the financial year 2022-23, which ended yesterday, the recovery has Rs 88.34 crore. UDAX is the biggest source of revenue in the Municipal Corporation. The Central Government has also asked the local bodies to collect the maximum UDAX every year. Recently, when the Union Ministry of Urban Development had written a letter, it had asked for the recovery of UDAX at a growth rate of 4.30 percent. For not doing so, the funds released by the Central Finance Commission to the civic bodies were withheld.
Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater and Heritage have more than 1.59 lakh properties, which come under the purview of tax. Out of these, this tax has been collected from the owners of about 32 thousand properties only. At the same time, there are government and many such big private properties, on which UDAX of crores of rupees is still pending.
The Municipal Corporation may have made a record recovery this time from UDAX, but 10 percent of this amount will have to be given by the Municipal Corporation to the tax collecting agency. Currently, a company named Sparrow collects UDAX in Municipal Corporation Greater and Heritage areas. In return, 9.9 percent of the amount is given to the company as a commission.
