Supreme Court Rejects Rajasthan Government’s Appeal on 87 Illegal Colonies in Sanganer
Illegal Construction in Jaipur: The state government failed to secure relief from the Supreme Court in the case of 87 colonies illegally built on land acquired for the Rajasthan Housing Board.
The government of the state did not find relief from the Supreme Court in the 87 illegally constructed colonies on land purchased for the Rajasthan Housing Board. The court showed displeasure during the hearing and did not intervene in the High Court ruling. After this, the Rajasthan government withdrew its appeal and expressed its desire to withdraw the appeal, which the court dismissed, granting permission. The government will now present its case in the High Court.
A division bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta dismissed the state government's appeal, which sought to protect encroachments in Jaipur's Sanganer area. The Supreme Court clearly instructed the government that, on this matter, it should express its views in the High Court. The Supreme Court will not interfere with the interim order. The government challenged the High Court's order to demolish illegal constructions in 87 colonies built on Housing Board land through an appeal, but like the High Court, the Supreme Court also dealt a blow to the government.
The state government was preparing to regularize these encroachments, but the Public Against Corruption organization filed a petition in the High Court against it. During the hearing of this petition, the High Court took a strict stance on encroachment. Now, after being reprimanded by the Supreme Court, the state government has only the option of presenting its case in the High Court.
