Rajasthan Government Approves Special Pay for Officers Holding Additional Charge Beyond Six Months
Rajasthan Finance News: In Rajasthan, officers holding additional charge at the level of HOD or Secretary for more than six months will now receive special pay. The Finance Department issued an order providing this relief before Diwali.
The Finance Department in Rajasthan has issued a significant order. Officers in the state who are burdened with additional charges will now receive special pay in exchange for their extra responsibilities. The Finance Department clarified that officers holding additional charge at the level of HOD or Secretary for more than six months will be granted an additional work allowance. In Rajasthan, many key positions in government departments, boards, and corporations are held on an additional charge. As a result, numerous officers manage extra roles across multiple departments alongside their primary duties.
This order has been issued under Rules 35 and 50 of the Rajasthan Service Rules, 1951. According to it, when an officer is assigned to another vacant post in addition to their regular role, they will receive special pay for six months from the vacancy date. If a regular appointment is not made within six months, the post will be considered kept in abeyance. This allows the Finance Department to abolish the post, considering it unnecessary during budget preparations.
However, this provision will not apply to senior positions such as Secretary, Principal Secretary, and Additional Chief Secretary. Even if these senior roles remain unfilled for more than six months, they will not be deemed in abeyance and will continue to receive special pay throughout the period.

Currently, around 50 departments, boards, and corporations in the state have Heads of Departments (HODs) and senior positions held on additional charge. This order will also apply to all officers presently holding these additional charges. This decision is seen as an incentive and a financial relief for officers ahead of Diwali.
