Railway News: Railways have decided to install CCTV cameras in the coaches of mail and express trains to promote women's safety. Cameras are being installed in more than 11 thousand coaches in this financial year. Security of women during their travel has been given special attention by the Railways. CCTV cameras will be installed on all coaches of mail and express trains for women's safety during their travels. More than 11 thousand coaches have cameras installed in the current financial year.
Besides, now that whatever coach will be under construction, there will also be a proposal to fix SOS (panic) buttons on all of them, which will be capable of informing the driver and security team simultaneously, if any emergency situation develops. Railways have taken initiatives at many levels, keeping in view the supreme importance of the safety of women passengers. Attempts are also on to identify suspicious movement with an AI-based watchful eye mechanism.
All CCTV cameras installed in coaches are of HD quality, in which recordings of at least one month can be kept safe. The highest priority is being given to installing CCTVs in women's coaches, sleeper coaches, and general coaches. Arrangements are being made so that all the cameras will be directly connected to the RPF control room, so that monitoring and action can be expedited.
