List of BJP candidates may come in Karnataka today: CM Basavaraj Bommai will contest from Shigaon

The Central Election Committee of the BJP held a meeting in Delhi on Sunday to finalize the names of the candidates for the Karnataka Assembly elections. After this, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai told that the party will release the list of candidates on Monday or Tuesday. He told that there was a discussion about all the candidates in the meeting, after which PM Modi has also given some guidelines. The meeting is likely to continue even today.
Karnataka CM told that he will contest from Shigaon's seat. According to media reports, Yediyurappa's son Vijayendra will contest from the Shikarpura assembly seat and CT Ravi from Chikkamagaluru.
The top leadership of the BJP attended the meeting held on Sunday. All senior leaders including PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai, Rajnath Singh and BJP General Secretary BL Santosh were present in the meeting.
The Congress has so far released two lists of candidates for the Karnataka Assembly elections. The Congress had announced the names of 124 candidates in the first list and 42 in the second list. The Congress is yet to announce its candidates for the remaining 58 seats.
A Congress meeting was held at party president Mallikarjun Kharge's house on Sunday regarding this. Several senior Congress leaders including Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal, and Surjewala attended the meeting.
Only 10 days have passed since the election code of conduct was imposed in the state. Meanwhile, the election-related seizure reached close to Rs 100 crore on Sunday. Cash worth Rs 36.8 crore, freebies worth Rs 15.46 crore, liquor worth Rs 30 crore, gold worth Rs 15 crore and silver jewellery worth Rs 2.5 crore has been seized in the state so far.
Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10. The results will come on 13 May. Voting will be done in one phase. Karnataka has 5.21 crore voters, who will vote in 224 assembly seats. Those who will be 18 years old on April 1 will also be able to vote.
