Things to remember while going on a monsoon trip 

The most important and the first thing in monsoon is your baggage. Use waterproof bags or covers to protect your clothes, gadgets and important documents from water. Rain may pour in at any time, so it is better to plan ahead. Also, keep waterproof jackets, umbrella and shoes with you.

Choose comfortable clothes

There is a fear of getting wet in the rain, so choose clothes that dry quickly and are comfortable. Synthetic or mixed fabric clothes are a better option instead of cotton. Avoid carrying very heavy or thick clothes, as they take more time to dry. Keep one or two pairs of extra clothes.

Protection from mosquitoes is very important

Mosquito infestations increase during monsoon, which can spread many types of diseases. Keep mosquito repellent cream or spray on your trip. Use a mosquito net while sleeping at night, if available. Wearing long-sleeved clothes can also help protect you from mosquitoes.

Be careful in eating and drinking

Stomach-related problems are very common in the rainy season. So, take extra precautions about cleanliness while having food outdoors. Do not eat on the streets, and eat and drink only at a clean location. Drink only boiled water or filtered water. Carry some common medications with you, such as medicines for stomach pain, fever, and vomiting.

Weather information and backup plan

Before you go on the trip, surely check the weather forecast of your destination. If there is a sudden flood or heavy rain, you should prepare a backup plan. Also, have a backup plan beforehand in case you have to remain for a couple of extra days or the road is not good.
