According to an important announcement made on Monday, Indians will no longer have to deal with the hassle of a transit visa (German Transit Visa) while traveling through Germany. This means that your journey will now be even smoother, without any paperwork.
Catching a connecting flight while traveling overseas can be quite a nerve-wracking experience, and the need for a visa just to wait for a few hours in the airport is even more annoying. However, all such hassles are soon going to come to an end for Indians.
Transit visa (Transit Visa) refers to the visa that you may need if you aren’t visiting or residing in the country, but rather plan to wait in the country for the duration of your layover before boarding the next plane to your destination. The new regulation means that if you have a layover in Germany on your way to another country, you don’t have to apply for a visa in order to catch the next plane to your destination. You can now stay in Germany's international transit area without a transit visa and catch your next flight. This decision aims to make travel easier for Indians.
Before this change, the rules were quite strict. Previously, Indian citizens had to obtain a Schengen transit visa (also known as a Category A visa) even to simply stay in the transit area at airports like Frankfurt, Munich, or Berlin. Even if travelers did not set foot inside Germany, they still had to obtain this visa. But now this hassle has been eliminated.
