The Federation of Indian Pilots (FIP) issued a statement saying, 'It expresses serious concern over the preliminary findings and public discussion related to the tragic accident of Air India flight number A-171 in Ahmedabad. We express our dissatisfaction over the exclusion of pilot representatives from the investigation process. We also strongly object to the interpretation of the preliminary report and the manner in which it was made public.'
FIP further commented, 'The report released lacks comprehensive data. It appears to selectively rely on cockpit recordings to prove the pilot's fault and question the professional competence and integrity of the flight crew. This approach is neither objective nor complete. Therefore, we urge our members and the public not to believe such preliminary findings.' They added, 'It is hasty and irresponsible to blame before a thorough, transparent, and data-based investigation. Such speculative comments undermine the professionalism of trained crew members, demoralize them, and cause distress to their families and colleagues.'
FIP also urged all stakeholders, including the media, commentators, and officials, to refrain from making unfounded statements or assumptions. They demanded a firm commitment to aviation safety, integrity, and due process. The federation expressed solidarity with the crew and their families and reiterated the need for an impartial, transparent, and evidence-based investigation before any final conclusions are made.
