Indian Wrestling Federation dismissed by Central Government, recognition of WFI chief Sanjay Singh also ended

Given the protests, the Central Government has dismissed the new Indian Wrestling Association. Let us tell you that recently Sanjay Singh, close to BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, became the new president of the wrestling association after winning the elections. Wrestler Anita Sheoran had to face defeat in the elections and after this female wrestler Sakshi Malik announced her retirement from wrestling. Given the opposition from the wrestlers, the Central Government has now suspended the new wrestling association. Along with this, the recognition of the new President of the Wrestling Association Sanjay Singh has also been cancelled.

The wrestlers were continuously opposing Sanjay Singh, the new President of the Indian Wrestling Association. Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia even returned his Padma Shri award. Along with this, Punia had also written a letter to PM Narendra Modi. While Sakshi Malik had announced her retirement from wrestling, another para athlete from Haryana, Virendra Singh had announced to return of the Padma Shri.

The Sports Ministry has terminated the recognition of Sanjay Singh by dismissing the newly formed Wrestling Association. Along with this, all the decisions of Sanjay Singh have been put on hold. The Sports Ministry has said that all activities of the wrestling association will be banned till further orders. The Ministry has also said that it seems that the old WFI officials are making all the decisions. The decisions of the newly elected executive body are against the rules.

The newly elected wrestling association has violated the provisions of WFI as well as the National Sports Development Code. The new president is being arbitrary in making decisions. This is contrary to principles and there is no transparency in it. Adherence to the rules is important to ensure fair play and accountability along with transparency. It is important to build trust between athletes, stakeholders and the public.
