Junior World Shooting Championships: Indian shooters made a great start to their campaign by winning team gold medals in men's and women's 10m air pistol events in Junior World Shooting Championships.
Indian shooters enjoyed a brilliant start to their campaign with the team gold medals from both men's and women's 10m air pistol events in the ongoing ISSF Junior World Championship (Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun) in Lima, Peru. In the junior men's team event in 10m air pistol, Umesh Chaudhary, Pradyumna Singh and Mukesh Nelavalli combined to win the gold with a total of 1726 points. The Indian team was a full 10 points clear of second-best Romania. The bronze medal went to Italy with an overall score of 1707. In the women's 10m air pistol team, the Indian trio of Kanishka Dagar, Lakshita and Anjali Chaudhary won the gold medal with a score of 1708.
An Indian shooter was also punished for arriving two minutes late and lost two points for that. Umesh Chaudhary and Pradyumna had qualified for the individual finals by finishing third and fourth respectively in the qualification round with scores of 580 and 578 respectively. In the final, however, Chaudhary finished sixth and Pradyumna eighth. Nelavalli had finished ninth in the qualification with a score of 574 and thus didn't make it to the final.
