Rajasthan High Court has granted interim bail to religious leader Asaram till March 31. Asaram is serving life imprisonment in the 2013 rape case. Soon after the apex court granted relief on medical grounds, Asaram's lawyers filed a sentence suspension petition in the High Court. After which he got bail.
Rajasthan High Court has given a big relief to Asaram Bapu. Asaram has received interim bail. Now, after 11 years, Asaram will come out of Jodhpur Central Jail. The Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to religious leader Asaram till March 31. Asaram is serving life imprisonment in the 2013 rape case. This comes a week after he was granted bail till March 31 by the Supreme Court in another rape case for being afflicted with different ailments and having to undergo medical treatment.
Following a relief the apex court granted to him on medical grounds, a petition for suspension of sentence was filed by Asaram's counsels in the high court. A division bench of Justices Dinesh Mehta and Vineet Kumar Mathur granted interim bail to Asaram since the nature of the petition was akin to the one filed in the Supreme Court.
We argued that the nature of the petition was similar to the one filed in the Supreme Court and the grounds are valid in this case as well, said Asaram's lawyer Nishant Bora. He said the conditions of Asaram's interim bail are the same as those fixed by the apex court on January 7, except for one condition.
