Rajasthan Weather: Rain, Hailstorms Continue as Western Disturbance Hits State

Rain and hailstorms persisted in Rajasthan on Tuesday due to a western disturbance. The Jaipur Meteorological Center states that this system will influence the weather until April 8th, after which clear skies are expected for about a week. The Meteorological Department forecasts light rain in eastern and northern regions over the next 24 hours, followed by clearing weather and gradually rising temperatures. Radheshyam Sharma, the department's director, predicts intense heat in late April, with a possibility of a significant heat wave in May and June.

An alert for light rain has been issued by the Jaipur Meteorological Center for Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions, though most parts of the state will remain mainly dry. From April 9th, clear and dry weather will prevail for 4-5 days, with temperatures increasing by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius from April 10th, intensifying the heat.

On Tuesday, heavy rainfall was reported in several districts, with hailstorms and thunderstorms in areas like Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, and Nagaur. Jaipur experienced heavy rain for about an hour and a half overnight, leading to a temperature drop of around 7 degrees Celsius. Crops in six villages of Sikar and Jhunjhunu were damaged by hailstorms. Due to the changing weather, over 10 cities recorded maximum temperatures below 30°C, with Chittorgarh reaching 36.6°C and Fatehpur in Sikar at 25°C.

In the last 24 hours, districts including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Jaipur, Dausa, Alwar, Tonk, Bharatpur, and Dholpur experienced rain with strong winds. Winds exceeding 40 kmph and hailstorms affected several locations, with Phalodi recording the highest rainfall of 42.2 mm. Areas like Anupgarh, Kuchaman, and Kolayat also received substantial rainfall.

The ongoing rainfall has damaged crops such as wheat and isabgol. Waterlogging in fields has harmed crops nearing harvest, and stored produce in markets has also been wet due to the weather.
