Google Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash AI now launched for everyone, can do these things

Google on Tuesday released for public use its Gemini 2.5 series artificial intelligence (AI) models. Now, people who use the Gemini chatbot have access to stable Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 2.5 Flash models. Interestingly, Google has released even the Pro version for those who use it for free. Apart from this, Google has now released its fastest as well as cheapest AI model yet, Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite.

Google has announced in a blog post that both Flash and Gemini 2.5 Pro models are now available for all in a stable release, out of preview mode. The preview version would often have buggy functionality, which would be incomplete, but all of those have now been addressed in the stable release.

Google Pro and Ultra subscribers will still get the same advanced features they would have gotten before, but now even subscribers on the free level get access to use the Gemini 2.5 Pro model. The daily usage cap will be applied for subscribers on the free level, but Pro subscribers get 100 daily prompts, and Ultra subscribers get even more.

Preview versions will no longer appear in the model selection menu on the Gemini website and app. Free users will now see three options, including Gemini 2.5 Flash, Gemini 2.5 Pro, and Personalization Preview models. It is capable of answering questions based on the user's Google Search history.

Google has also introduced a new model called Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite, which is said to be faster and cheaper than 2.0 Flash-Lite. It is specifically designed for real-time tasks such as translation, classification, math, coding, science, and multimodal tasks. This model also has other features of the Gemini 2.5 family, such as reasoning power on different token budgets, connectivity to Google Search and code tools, and multimodal input support.

Google's Gemini 2.5 Pro and Gemini 2.5 Flash are two powerful AI models that meet different needs. Gemini 2.5 Pro is a "thinking" model, best suited for tasks such as complex coding, in-depth research, multimodal data analysis, and advanced reasoning. It comes in handy where accuracy, deep understanding, and the ability to handle large datasets are important.

In short, Pro is for complex and in-depth tasks, while Flash is built for fast and efficient large-scale operations.
