The Defence Ministry has declared 2025 as the 'Year of Reforms'. The official associated with the matter said that in 2025, the Ministry of Defence will focus on new areas and emerging technologies like cyber and space. The ministry will also simplify and make acquisition processes timely for the rapid development of military capacity. He said that the defense reform would facilitate the establishment of an Integrated Military Command.

The Defence Ministry said that the reform measures will be implemented to transform the armed forces into a technologically advanced and combat-ready force capable of multi-domain integrated operations. The ministry said that in 2025, the focus will be on new areas like cyber and space, emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, hypersonics, and robotics.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the Year of Reforms will be an important milestone in marking the journey of modernization for the armed forces, and it will lay down the foundation for unprecedented progress towards the country's defense preparedness, thereby preparing to ensure security and sovereignty in the challenges emerging in the 21st century. It was decided, in a high-level meeting chaired by the Defence Minister, to celebrate 2025 as the Year of Reforms.

Meanwhile, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said: "India can unlock newer economic opportunities by leveraging this opportunity for change in Global Alliances and playing an important role in the Global Supply Chain System.". He said India was in a position to do much more than just defend itself. In his New Year message to the employees of the group, Mahindra said international relations can become increasingly transactional and will be driven by national interest and national strength.
