Coach Goran Ivanisevic has taken a big decision after Elena Rybakina out of the fourth round of the Australian Open

On Tuesday, Goran Ivanisevic announced that he resigned as coach after Elena Rybakina was knocked out of the fourth round of the Australian Open 2025. 2023 Australian Open finalist and sixth seed Elena Rybakina lost 3-6, 6-1, 3-6 to US number-19 seed Madison Keys in the fourth round of the season's first major on Monday.

In a statement on social media, Goran Ivanisevic confirmed his resignation from the role. He wrote in his post, “I wish Elena and her team all the best moving forward after our trial period ended with the Australian Open.”

Before Elena Rybakina, Goran Ivanisevic was recently coaching legendary Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. The two parted ways in March 2024. They spent six seasons together, during which Djokovic won 12 Grand Slam titles.

Ivanisevic was one of the best servers the game has had and reached world No. 2 as a player. The Croatian won 22 tour-level singles titles - including the 2001 Wimbledon title as a wild card.

World No. 5 Elena Rybakina named Ivanisevic as her new coach ahead of the 2025 WTA Tour season. The 2022 Wimbledon champion announced this during Media Day at the WTA Finals in Riyadh last November.

Ivanisevic's departure comes after Elena Rybakina's previous longtime coach Stefano Vukov rejoined her team. Vukov was last year suspended by the WTA Tour for a possible violation of the tour's code of conduct. He is under a confidential and private investigation. He was the coach of Elena Rybakina from 2019 until just before the 2024 US Open. When the 25-year-old parted ways with him, she had reached No. 3 in the world. Rybakina won the 2022 Wimbledon title under Vukov's coaching.
