Bomb blast in Kabul mosque: 20 killed, 40 injured
The explosion occurred during Maghrib's prayer. Masjid cleric Amir Mohammad Kabuli also died in the blast.
A bomb exploded in a mosque in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, on Wednesday evening, killing 20 people. There are also reports of 40 people getting injured. According to Tolo TV's Telegram channel, the blast occurred during Maghrib prayers at the 'Abubakar Sediq' mosque in the Khairkhana area of Kabul.
Taliban security officials said that Taliban security personnel have reached the spot to investigate the blast in Kabul's PD-17 area. Masjid cleric Amir Mohammad Kabuli also died in the blast. The hospital emergency NGO in the area said that 27 people have been admitted there, including 5 children. One of these children is 7 years old.
Last week, Taliban supporter Maulana Sheikh Rahimullah Haqqani was killed in a fidayeen attack in Kabul. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for this.
Earlier on August 8, eight people were killed and 22 were injured in a bomb blast in a market in Kabul. The blast took place in the western area of the city where people from the Shia Muslim community used to visit. Islamic State also claimed responsibility for this blast.
