Army called in Dholpur due to heavy rain, record of last 69 years broken
Rajasthan Monsoon Update: Even today, the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert in six districts of Rajasthan. So far in the month of July, 285 MM rain has occurred in the state, which is the highest rainfall in the last 69 years.
Heavy rain has shattered the 69-year record in Rajasthan. For the first time this year, during monsoon, it rained 285 mm in the state in July. In July 1956 earlier this year, it had rained a maximum of 308 mm. The condition is worst in Kota, Dholpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur because of the heavy rains. Chambal is flowing over the danger mark.
Dholpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur are flooded. The situation is worst in Dholpur, so the administration called the army on Thursday to handle the situation here. In Dholpur, people have been evacuated safely through rescue operations in Cheelpura, Gadi, Mehdpura, Chadiyan Ka Pura, and Bhuda villages.
Due to heavy rainfall, there is a significant inflow of water in the state's dams. Out of the 23 big dams of the state, the gates of 8 are being opened to drain out the water. 2 gates of Kota Barrage, 3 gates of Bisalpur, 1 gate of Jawahar Sagar, 4 gates of Parvati Dam, 2 gates each of Kalisindh and Panchana have been opened. Chambal is flowing about 12 meters above the danger mark in Dholpur. Many areas have been submerged. After good rains in June-July, the Meteorological Department has predicted more than normal rainfall in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bharatpur, Bikaner in August.
