ACB's Dungarpur team arrested Water Supply Department's Superintending Engineer for taking bribe of Rs 2 lakh

ACB's Dungarpur team arrested Water Supply Department's Superintending Engineer Anil Kachwaha for taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh on Tuesday. The Superintending Engineer had demanded this amount in lieu of passing the pending bill of the Jal Jeevan Mission scheme.

The complainant contractor, in a complaint given to ACB, said that bills of about Rs 2 crore 50 lakh were pending for the works done under the Jal-Jeevan Mission scheme, the bribe of Rs 5 lakh has been demanded by the Superintending Engineer in lieu of passing these bills.

The complaint was confirmed under the supervision of Udaipur ACB Deputy Inspector General of Police Rajendra Prasad Goyal, and under the leadership of Dungarpur unit Deputy Superintendent of Police Ratan Singh Rajpurohit. Police Inspector Rajendra Singh and others laid the trap and arrested the accused, Anil Kachhawah, red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant. During verification of the complaint, it was prima facie established that an amount of Rs 1 lac as a bribe was also demanded and accepted by the accused superintending engineer from the complaint.
