Indian team's explosive batsman Abhishek Sharma again made history in T20 cricket by making a scintillating batting display. He made a half-century explosive innings against Pakistan on Sunday at the Dubai Cricket Stadium during the Super Four game of the Asia Cup 2025. Abhishek Sharma made a tempestuous match-winning innings of 74 runs from 39 balls, including 5 sixes and 6 fours. For this excellent performance, he received the Player of the Match award. Most importantly, he also broke his mentor Yuvraj Singh's record for the fastest half-century against Pakistan.

Abhishek Sharma completed his half-century in 24 balls. This is the quickest half-century by an Indian in a T20I against Pakistan. Before him, the record was held by Yuvraj Singh. In 2012, Yuvraj Singh scored a half-century against Pakistan in Ahmedabad off 29 balls. However, Abhishek Sharma, playing five balls less, created history in T20I cricket against Pakistan.

On winning the Player of the Match award, Abhishek Sharma said, "I didn't like the way they (Pakistani bowlers) were coming at us for no reason in today's match. So, I decided to go after them. I wanted to perform well for the team. Gill and I have been playing since school; we enjoy each other's company. We thought we would do it, and today was that day." Regarding Shubman Gill's batting, Abhishek said, "I really liked the way he was responding. If you see someone playing like that, it's because the team supports me and they support me. That's the intent I show, and I'm working really hard."

It should be noted that Abhishek Sharma, along with Shubman Gill, played a crucial role in India's victory. The two added 105 runs for the first wicket in 9.5 overs, laying a strong foundation for India against Pakistan. Shubman Gill was dismissed after scoring 47 runs off 28 balls. Abhishek Sharma played a stormy half-century of 74 runs off 39 balls, including 5 sixes and 6 fours. As a result, India scored 174 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 18.5 overs and won the match by 6 wickets.
