YouTube search has become smart with AI, but only some special users will be able to take advantage
YouTube: YouTube is making the AI search feature bigger for its users, but right now, it is only for a select few. The new update is special for Premium users and is currently available only in the US.
YouTube is moving rapidly ahead with one of its four big AI plans in 2025. The company first introduced the AI-powered video search feature in June. This was being tested in the US for only a few users. Now the scope of this feature is being expanded, but it will still be available only to YouTube Premium users.
According to a report by Android Authority, AI search is now reaching more Premium subscribers in the US. It is currently available only on mobile apps (including iOS) and will work only in the English language. According to YouTube's Experiments page, this feature will remain in testing till August 20. After this, whether it will be launched globally or not is not yet decided.
Google said in June that these AI search results will only appear for certain categories, such as shopping, travel, or activities to do in a place. For example, when searching for "Best beaches in Hawaii", the results are shown in the form of a carousel.
At present, the list of experiments for YouTube Premium is quite small. One of these is the comment threading feature, which was introduced in February and later improved with updates. Similarly, AI search was also initially for a limited number of users, but now YouTube wants to get more feedback by making it available to more people.
