Western Disturbance Triggers Rain, Cold Wave Warning Across Rajasthan
On the first morning of the New Year, light drizzle and cold spells of Mawth rain fell in many areas of the state. The Meteorological Department predicts a sharp drop in temperatures over the next two to three days.
The weather in Rajasthan has once again taken a turn. Mawth has begun in the state on the first day of the year. On Thursday, a rain alert was issued for more than eight districts in the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions. The Meteorological Department has also warned of a cold wave and dense fog. Several areas of Jaipur, the capital, have been experiencing intermittent light rain since around 5 a.m.
Earlier on Wednesday, due to the influence of a Western Disturbance, six to eight districts of the state experienced cloudy conditions, and rain was recorded at several locations. Jodhpur, Phalodi, Barmer, and Bikaner experienced good rain accompanied by strong winds. Due to the clouds and rain, the maximum daytime temperature dropped significantly. However, the first snowfall of the season is expected to benefit the Rabi crops.
Dense clouds enveloped several districts, including Jaipur and Dausa, on Thursday morning. On the first day of the New Year, light rain fell in several areas of Jaipur, including Durgapura, Gopalpura, and Malviya Nagar. Dense fog was also observed in many parts of the city. The weather also deteriorated in the districts adjacent to Jaipur.

Dense fog enveloped the Bharatpur and Alwar regions of eastern Rajasthan in the morning, lasting until noon. During this time, sunlight was weak, leading to a chilly daytime effect. On Wednesday morning, visibility on the National Highway in the Palsana area of Sikar was recorded at less than 30 meters due to fog.
Rain, clouds, and cold winds have increased the daytime cold in the state. Maximum temperatures in several cities, including Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner, recorded below 25 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in the capital Jaipur on Wednesday was 23.4 degrees Celsius, which is considered to be the coldest day of the season.
