UGC gave great news to these students, now students scoring 75% marks will be able to directly take admission to PhD

There is great news for the students who are doing or going to do four-year undergraduate courses. Now after doing this course, he will be able to directly take admission in PhD and will also be able to apply for UGC NET. They will no longer need to do post-graduate for this. However, for admission to PhD, they will have to secure at least 75 per cent marks or its equivalent grade in a four-year undergraduate course.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken these important steps to increase the inclination of students towards four-year undergraduate courses started under the new National Education Policy (NEP). According to UGC Chairman Professor M Jagadish Kumar, this system will be implemented from this year itself.

Students who identify as SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), disabled, or EWS will also receive a 5% or equivalent grade relaxation for PhD admission during this time. As a result, students enrolled in four-year undergraduate programmes will have the ability to apply for UGC NET directly. Students who will be in their final year of a four-year graduation course will also be able to apply for these.

In addition, the Commission has provided four-year undergraduate students with yet another significant reprieve. They are not subject to the subject requirement for UGC NET. This implies that he can now select any subject. It won't be necessary for them to choose just the courses they studied for their graduation. However, they will have to decide the subjects during the application.
