Teens will no longer be able to make Instagram webfools, theft will be caught by AI
Instagram: Meta says that it has already been estimating the age of users using AI technology, but now the photo and video sharing app Instagram has started "proactively" looking for accounts that hide their real age by giving a false date of birth.
Teenagers will no longer be able to create Instagram webfools. Instagram is now using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to determine if a child is trying to grow up on the app, hiding their real age. This was disclosed by Instagram's parent company, Meta, on Monday.
Meta says that it has been predicting the age of users using AI technology for some time now, but now the photo and video sharing Instagram app is "proactively" trying to find accounts that deceive others by giving a fake date of birth to hide their real age.
If the AI determines that a user is hiding their real age and is actually a teen, Instagram will automatically convert their account to a "teen account." Teen accounts have more restrictions than adult accounts.
