BCCI Condemns Harassment of Australian Women Cricketers in Indore, Vows Stricter Security
Two Australian women cricketers were walking from their hotel to a cafe when they were harassed by a young man on a bike. The women players immediately sent an SOS call, and police arrived at the scene. The accused has now been arrested.
Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Devjit Saikia has termed the harassment of Australian women players at Indore as unfortunate. He said, "We are also pleased that the police took swift action to apprehend the culprit as soon as possible. I hope the law will take its course to punish the apprehended culprit. We will also ensure that a security cordon is already in place for all visiting teams during the ICC Women's ODI World Cup, but we will further enhance it and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future. We hope that the remaining World Cup matches will also run smoothly."
