SIAM Data: Passenger Vehicle and Two-Wheeler Exports Power India’s Auto Boom
SIAM: India's automobile sector performed strongly in global markets in 2025. According to the latest SIAM data, India's auto exports grew 24.1 percent to 6.325 million units due to rising demand for cars, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and commercial vehicles in foreign markets. Learn more.
According to the latest data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), automobile exports from India increased by 24.1 percent in 2025. This increased total exports to 6,325,211 units, compared to 5,098,474 units in 2024.
The number of passenger cars produced during this time was 150,644 units, and the domestic sales were 119,236 units. For April to December, the total sales of passenger cars were 10.03 lakh units, which grew from 9.76 lakh in the same period last year.
The export performance of passenger cars registered an increase of 16 percent to reach 863,233 units. Utility vehicles led the way, registering an increase of 32 percent to reach 427,219 units. On the other hand, the export of passenger cars registered a modest increase of 3 percent. According to the SIAM report, "The demand in key markets such as the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America is stable, which is helping to establish the Indian automobiles in international markets."
Maruti Suzuki maintained its export leadership in the 2025 segment. This year, the company exported 3.95 lakh units and has set a target of 4 lakh units for FY26. Rahul Bharti, the company's senior executive officer, said that Maruti Suzuki accounts for 46 percent of total passenger vehicle exports from India.

Two-wheeler exports also performed well. Two-wheeler exports increased by 24 percent to 4,939,706 units. Motorcycle shipments increased by 27 percent to 4,301,927 units. Scooter shipments also saw a significant increase, rising by eight percent to 620,241 units.
Three-wheeler exports saw the highest growth, registering a 43 percent increase to 425,527 units. Commercial vehicle exports increased by 27 percent to 91,759 units.
