Severe Fog Engulfs Rajasthan Capital, Life Disrupted for Second Straight Day

Fog is wreaking havoc in Rajasthan, with situations ranging from what is happening on the ground to the sky. The thick fog that has engulfed the national capital Jaipur for the past two days has further aggravated the situation. During Wednesday’s morning, the houses in front of us could not be seen, with visibility remaining nearly zero. Fog and the cold wave have been wreaking havoc in Jaipur. The sunrise remained for a brief moment, with people huddling together under the blanket. However, with the sunrise as the sky turned bright in the afternoon, the cold wave did bring some relief to us with improved visibility.

On Tuesday, the visibility was zero from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. It was at its highest at 800 meters at 2 p.m. The low visibility also disrupted road, rail, and air traffic. Zero visibility was recorded at the airport in the morning.

The capital has been engulfed in fog for two days. Dense fog continued until Tuesday afternoon. As soon as the sun rose, people were seen venturing out of their homes to bask in the sun. The sunshine also caused the maximum temperature to rise above 18 degrees Celsius. The fog also affected flights. Flights 6E-7465, scheduled for 6:55 a.m. to Udaipur, 6E-7217 to Ahmedabad, 6E-7274 to Dehradun, and 6E-7718 to Chandigarh were cancelled. Flight 6E-7742 from Chandigarh departed with a delay of approximately one and a quarter hours. Indigo's flight 6E-7744 to Indore departed at 12 noon, approximately six hours late, while flight 6E-7675 to Jaisalmer was also delayed by two and a half hours. Train operations were also disrupted. The fog is also impacting train traffic in the state. On Tuesday, the operation of about 15 trains was affected due to fog.
