Sam Curran Back in England T20 XI After Stellar ‘The Hundred’ Performance
England had to face defeat in the home series against South Africa in the ODI series. During this, the team felt the lack of a fast bowling all-rounder.
England has announced its playing XI for the first T20 match against South Africa. All-rounder Sam Curran has rejoined the team. Curran played his last T20 against West Indies in November 2024. The 27-year-old Sam Curran performed impressively with both bat and ball in 'The Hundred.' He played a key role in the Oval Invincibles' title victory. In that tournament, he scored 238 runs and took 12 wickets. Based on this performance, he has been brought back into the T20 squad.
England lost the home series against South Africa in the ODI format. During that series, the team missed a fast-bowling all-rounder. To address this, Sam Curran has been recalled. His return provides the team with the necessary balance and experience. Both Bethell and Jacques have retained their spots in the playing XI for the first T20 match. Bethell is expected to bat at number three, with Curran at number five. However, England remains flexible with their batting order.
Curran is supported by Jamie Overton and Jofra Archer in the fast-bowling department, both returning from injury. Veteran Adil Rashid and left-arm spinner Liam Dawson bolster the spin attack, adding variety and depth. Opener Phil Salt has also been brought back and will open the innings with Jos Buttler.
