Heavy rains cause havoc in Ajmer, water filled in posh areas too; NDRF team engaged in relief work
The torrential rains in Ajmer for the last 48 hours have created flood-like conditions in the city. Reservoirs like Anasagar and Pushkar Sarovar are overflowing, due to which low-lying areas are flooded. NDRF teams rescued people and took them to safer places. Schools have been declared closed for holidays.
The torrential rains in Ajmer for the last 48 hours have completely disrupted the life of the city. The overflowing water has invaded the roads and settlements as the filling capacity of the city's main reservoirs like Anasagar, Varun Sagar, Pushkar Sarovar has been crossed.
The situation has turned flood-like on account of waterlogging in low-lying colonies as well as well-off residential localities. NDRF teams and volunteers conducted rescue efforts at Sagar Vihar, Vaishalinagar, and other inundated places and rescued the stranded residents. Relief efforts are being extended with the aid of boats, tractor trolleys and ropes.
The water overflowing from the lakes is flowing like a river on the main roads. There is a sheet of water of about two feet on Varun Sagar, due to which the Bari river is also in spate. The water of Ana Sagar Lake entered the colonies through the roads. The age-old problem of water drainage has once again come to the fore.
