Demand to make Jat CM and increase OBC reservation in Rajasthan raises political concerns at Mahakumbh

Thousands of Jat community members from across Rajasthan have gathered at the Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur to participate in the Jat Mahakumbh. The demand for a caste census and an increase in Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservation from 21% to 27% has become a political issue. The Congress State President, Govind Singh Dotasara, advised the leaders of the society to maintain harmony and not utter any wrong words against any other society. Satish Poonia, the BJP State President, said that the Jat community was known for its social harmony and hard work and that attempts had been made to create division in the 36 communities that used to stand behind them in the Panchayati Raj elections.

Rameshwar Dudi, the former Leader of Opposition and Congress leader, raised the demand for a Jat Chief Minister from the Jat Mahakumbh Manch. Dudi said that Jats had given martyrdom for the freedom of the country and that the Chief Minister of Rajasthan should be a farmer's son, a Jat's son. He urged Jats to give up the habit of pulling each other's legs and build Tejaji's temples in every village to promote unity.

Transport Minister Brijendra Ola said that the Jat community should never forget its gratitude towards Karnataka's farmer leader HD Deve Gowda, who made a significant contribution in providing reservation to Jats. The Jat Mahakumbh is being considered a platform to show political power, with leaders from all parties, including BJP and Congress, in attendance.
