65mm Rain in Niwai, Storms in Bikaner: Eastern Rajasthan Gets Relief While West Sizzles at 42°C

According to forecasters, the weather in Rajasthan would remain unpredictable throughout Sunday. The Meteorological Department has declared a yellow alert for the occurrence of thunderstorms and showers in 12 districts in the state, while the western districts could witness very hot weather along with a heatwave. According to the department, in the afternoon, the cities of Jaipur, Alwar, Dausa, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Tonk, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, and their surroundings are likely to experience rainfall ranging from mild to moderate, thunderstorms, and even isolated storms, accompanied by gusty winds blowing at speeds between 40 to 50 km per hour.

In the previous day, the village of Niwai in Tonk witnessed rainfall of above 65 mm, while Alwar and Bikaner were also lashed with heavy rains. In Sridungargarh village, located in Bikaner, a strong storm had blown down tin sheds along with other damage to remote farmlands. The rain and storm brought relief from the heat and humidity to people in several districts of eastern Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, the heat wave is expected to persist in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Sri Ganganagar in western Rajasthan. Daytime temperatures in these areas could reach around 42 degrees Celsius, and hot winds could worsen people's discomfort.

The capital, Jaipur, is expected to experience partly cloudy skies today, with strong winds and light rain expected in the evening or late afternoon. This could bring a slight drop in temperatures and provide some relief from the humidity.
