The cold continues to affect Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department issued a cold wave warning on Thursday for six districts in the state. However, some relief from the cold wave is expected to begin from January 16th, and light rain is expected to start from January 19th. On Wednesday, severe cold conditions in the rural areas of Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar led to freezing temperatures in the morning. Minimum temperatures in 15 cities across the state were recorded below 5 degrees Celsius. The hill station of Mount Abu dropped to minus 3 degrees Celsius. Frost impacted crops in the rural areas of Rawatsar, Pallu, and Nohar in Hanumangarh, with snow forming in the fields. The maximum day temperature here was only 14.9 degrees Celsius.

Several districts across the state, including Shekhawati, are experiencing severe cold at night. Alwar, Pilani, Sikar, Jaisalmer, Churu, Ganganagar, Nagaur, Sirohi, Fatehpur, Karauli, Dausa, Lunkaransar, Jhunjhunu, and Pali recorded minimum temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius. Dense fog also enveloped Sri Ganganagar district on Wednesday morning.

Despite the bitter cold in the morning, the sunshine as the day progressed brought some relief from the cold wave. On Wednesday, the highest maximum temperatures in the state were recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius in Barmer and 26.4 degrees Celsius in the Jawai region of Pali. The maximum temperature in the capital, Jaipur, was 23.8 degrees Celsius.
