A raging case has been making headlines at the government Nursing College in Kottayam, Kerala. First-year students of this college were brutally tortured physically and mentally in the name of ragging. Police have arrested five third-year students in the case. Those third-year students stripped them naked and tortured them for three months. The accused not only extorted alcohol from the victims but also injured them with sharp objects like dumbbells and compasses.

Police said that Rahul Raj, NS Jeeva, NP Vivek, Rigil Jeet, and Samuel Johnson have been arrested on the complaint of three first-year students. According to the complaint, the ragging started in November last year. The students alleged that they were forced to stand naked and were brutally beaten up with dumbbells used for exercise. Not only this, the private parts of the victims were injured with sticks and similar sharp objects, and lotion was applied to their wounds.

The complaint said that the senior students regularly used to extort money from the junior students on Sundays to buy liquor and beat them up. When the limits of tolerance were crossed, the victim students mustered up the courage to approach the police and lodged a complaint.
