Out of daily 2.5 billion ChatGPT prompts, 300 million are just from America

AI startup backed by Microsoft OpenAI's ChatGPT is gaining a lot of popularity across the globe. ChatGPT is receiving over 2.5 billion prompts every day from users worldwide, with over 300 million prompts coming from America itself, as per a recent report. This data has been provided by a report by Axios.

This is equivalent to 912 billion requests on a yearly basis. This indicates how ChatGPT has emerged as a significant aspect of users' day-to-day online behavior, though in terms of user interaction, ChatGPT continues to lag behind Google Search.

According to Alphabet (Google's parent company), Google Search receives about 5 trillion search queries every year. This means that Google handles an average of 14 billion searches every day, which is much higher than ChatGPT's figures. Although Google does not officially share its daily or monthly search data, according to a TechCrunch report, independent researchers have also confirmed these figures.

In December 2024, OpenAI said that ChatGPT has 300 million monthly active users, and at that time, 1 billion prompts were received every day. India and the US are considered to be ChatGPT's biggest markets. Recently in India, the Perplexity app removed ChatGPT from the top list of the Apple App Store and took the first position. This happened when Perplexity announced a year of free Perplexity Pro subscription for Bharti Airtel users.

OpenAI has also recently introduced a new feature called ChatGPT Agent. It acts like an AI assistant that can automatically perform complex tasks on behalf of the user, such as web browsing, creating presentations, connecting to external applications (e.g. GitHub, Gmail), direct data processing through API access, etc. This agent works with the help of a virtual computer and automatically selects the most appropriate tool for any task.
