OLA Gen 3 Platform will be launched in January 2025; Major change in electric scooters
OLA is going to launch the Gen 3 Platform in January 2025. Earlier its arrival time was from March to April 2025. During this time Ola can bring its five additional electric two-wheelers. Which will include S1 series to two new sub-brands S2 and S3. Along with this, the company has also set a target of reaching 2000 stores by the year 2025.
Ola Electric's Generation 3 platform is being developed to provide the best electric scooter. The company will start the delivery of these scooters in January 2025. Earlier this time frame was between March to April 2025. Meanwhile, the company will introduce its 5 extra electric scooters which will be two new sub-brands, S2 and S3, moving forward from the recently launched S1 series.
Amongst the trends, this year by Indians are electric two-wheelers. Because of this fact, their sales have also been affected this year. Electric two-wheeler sales went up from 16.1% in June 2024 to 21.4% in September 2024. Their highest sales have been spotted in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. Ola has revved up the pace of new model introductions for mass-market scooters in the price range of Rs 1 lakh to cater both to mass-market and premium series customers.
After the results of quarter 2 of the financial year, Ola Electric said in a regulatory filing that it will start the delivery of S1 Generation 3 production ahead of schedule in January next year. Also, as part of its Generation 3 architecture, Punt will introduce additional scooters, which will be two new sub-brands, S2 and S3, beyond the existing S1 series.
In 2025, the S2 brand will introduce three models. There will be one city model for the city, one tourer to travel long distances, and one sportier variant for enthusiasts. The S3 sub-brand will come up with two maxi-scooters in the premium segment named the Grand Adventure and the Grand Tourer. Generation 3 will have an integrated battery, magnetless motor, and electronics within the chassis. It has been said that this new design can bring in a performance improvement of 26% and a cost reduction of over 20%.
OLA Electric has a market share of close to 30% in the electric two-wheeler market and plans to expand its detailed network from 782 stores currently to 2,000 by March 2025.
