Now Tiktok got caught in a new data transfer controversy, investigation will be conducted again
TikTok Data Transfer Investigation: TikTok has once again come under European investigation for transferring user data to China. Ireland's Data Protection Authority has launched a new investigation into data storage and access in China.

Popular short video app TikTok has once again been accused of serious privacy violations in Europe. The European Union's Data Protection Commission (DPC) has opened a fresh probe against TikTok that will determine how and under what terms the app has shifted European user data to China.
This investigation is an extension of the investigation already underway, in which TikTok was fined 530 million euros (about $620 million). At that time, it was found that the app put users' data at risk through remote access in China.
TikTok had previously claimed that it does not store European user data in China, but only employees there access the data remotely. But later, the company admitted that some data was indeed stored on Chinese servers.
After this, the Ireland-based Data Protection Commission (DPC), which is the main monitoring body of TikTok due to its headquarters in Europe, has decided to start the investigation again.
The DPC has clarified that this investigation is being done to check whether TikTok has complied with its obligations under GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). In particular, this investigation is being done regarding the legality and security measures of data transfer.
TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, is from China, and for this reason, questions have been raised about national security on this app in Western countries for a long time. There have been allegations many times that China can get access to user data through TikTok. No response has been given by TikTok on this new investigation at the moment.
