NordPass recently released the sixth edition of its annual research "Top 200 Most Common Passwords", which lists the most used passwords in 44 countries. According to this report, the most used password in the world and India is “123456”. The research found that out of 30,18,050 users using this password worldwide, 76,981 are Indians. Apart from this, the second most used password in the world is “123456789”, which ranks fourth in India.

This study was conducted in collaboration with NordStellar, and according to them, almost half of the most common passwords worldwide are simple combinations like "qwerty", "1q2w3e4er5t", and "123456789". A similar trend has been noticed in India. In an earlier study by NordPass, the average internet user was found to have 168 passwords for personal accounts and 87 passwords for work-related accounts.

It is hard to manage so many passwords, so most people use some simple catchphrases which are easy to remember and at the same time may easily be hacked in less than a second.
