IPL2024: Captain Shikhar Dhawan out of the team's next two matches,  major setback to the Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have performed very disappointingly so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Most of the star players of the team are not in good form. Meanwhile, he has suffered a big shock. Team captain and senior batsman Shikhar Dhawan is out for a long time due to a shoulder injury. This has been confirmed by the team's head coach Sanjay Bangar.

Dhawan did not play in the match played against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday and English all-rounder Sam Curran took command of the team in his place. According to Bangar, it will take 9 to 10 days for Dhawan to recover completely. In such a situation, if he is out even for a week, he will not be able to play in the next two matches of the team. Punjab has to play against Mumbai Indians on 18 April and Gujarat Titans on 21 April.

In the press conference after the defeat against Rajasthan Royals, Sanjay Bangar said, 'He has a shoulder injury, so he is likely to be out for at least a few days. Along with an experienced opening batsman, it becomes very important to have a player like Shikhar, who has the experience of playing on such wickets.

He further said, 'We will have to wait and see how he responds to the treatment. At present, it seems that he may be out of the field for at least seven-ten days. IPL 2024 has not been good for Dhawan so far, both as a captain and as a player. He has scored 152 runs in five matches this season at an average of 30.40. During this period his strike rate has been 125.61. Interestingly, despite this ordinary performance, he is the highest run-scorer for Punjab Kings this year.
