Singapore joins liveable cities in Asia-Pacific, achieved 10th position; Where in the list of cities of India
Singapore has once again featured in the top ten cities in the latest ranking of the world's most liveable cities. Four Indian cities also feature in the list of 173 most liveable countries in the world.
Singapore has once again featured in the top ten cities in the latest Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) ranking of the world's most liveable cities. The Southeast Asian city, which was recently voted as the best business environment (EIU) and the world's freest economy (The Heritage Foundation), ranks tenth among Asia-Pacific cities.
The EIU Liveability Index 2023 recorded the highest global average score in 15 years, indicating a stark improvement in the living conditions of cities across the world following the coronavirus pandemic, which disrupted lives and affected lifestyle, health care, Influenced culture and environment, education and infrastructure.
The index shows that cities in the Asia-Pacific region have improved the most. Eight of the top ten on the rise come from the region. New Zealand's Wellington climbed 35 places to No.23, while Auckland climbed 25 places to No.10. Vietnam's Hanoi climbed 20 places to 129th, and Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur climbed 19 places.
