In the Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2023, the Indian Women's Hockey Team secured a convincing 5-0 win against Malaysia in a standout performance at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi.

Vandana Katariya (7', 21'), Sangita Kumari (28'), Lalremsiami (28'), and Pooja (38') were the goal-scorers who powered India to the top of the table with two wins in two matches. Japan also won both their games but trailed India in goal difference.

In a dominant display, India started with back-to-back penalty corners and Vandana Katariya found the net from the second set-piece. Although India had numerous chances in the first quarter, they couldn't extend the lead.

However, the second quarter saw Vandana Katariya scoring again from a penalty corner, giving India a 2-0 lead. Sangita Kumari and Lalremsiami added two more field goals, leading to a 4-0 advantage by halftime.

While Malaysia showed some resilience in the third quarter, India's relentless attacks led to a 5-0 lead with Jyoti adding to the scoreline.

India's women's hockey team will face the People's Republic of China in their next fixture, while Japan and China also registered wins in their matches. Japan defeated South Korea 4-0, and China secured a 6-0 victory over Thailand.
