The Income Tax Department urged taxpayers to disregard emails regarding “important transactions” that were part of the Advance Tax e-Campaign for the year 2026-27. The department said that there was false information in the emails that taxpayers had already filed. The false information was in regard to emails for the financial year 2025-26.

The department wrote on the popular social site X that they received complaints from taxpayers about false information in their emails. The department thanked taxpayers for bringing the issue to its attention and apologized for the inconvenience caused. Officials stated that the matter is being resolved in coordination with the service provider responsible for the communication system.

The department stated, "We are actively working to resolve this issue in coordination with our service provider." The department further stated, "In the meantime, taxpayers are requested to disregard earlier email communications related to the Advance Tax e-Campaign for Assessment Year 2026-27." The Income Tax Department clarified that such communications are intended as reminders to facilitate taxpayers in reviewing the financial information available on the compliance portal and ensuring proper advance tax compliance, if necessary. Taxpayers have been advised to verify their transaction details through the 'e-Campaign' tab on the compliance portal via the Income Tax e-Filing portal. The department also requested taxpayers' understanding and cooperation during the resolution of this issue.
