Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design was introduced as the world's first commercial triple-screen foldable phone in September 2024. This handset has a 6.4-inch cover screen (once folded) and a 10.2-inch tablet screen (on unfolding twice). This phone was also launched in certain international markets this year. The Chinese phone manufacturer is now developing the Huawei Mate XT 2, which is going to be its second three-fold smartphone. A tipster has revealed features of the Huawei Mate XT 2, with the phone expected to be out in the second half of 2025.

On Weibo, tipster Digital Chat Station asserted that Huawei is preparing to release a new tri-fold phone in the second part of this year. The model will carry the same display resolution as the Mate XT Ultimate Design and will presumably be named Huawei Mate XT 2. It is also expected to be equipped with a new chipset, camera technology, and other hardware upgrades.

Previous leaks have claimed that the Huawei Mate XT 2 will be powered by the Kirin 9020 processor. It is expected to be much better than the Kirin 9010 chipset used in the Mate XT Ultimate Design. Other specifications of the triple foldable have not been leaked yet, but more information is expected soon as the release date is near.

Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design was launched in China in September 2024, with a starting price of CNY 19,999 (roughly Rs. 2,35,900) for the 16GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. It was also introduced in some global markets in February.

Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design runs HarmonyOS 4.2. It has a 10.2-inch flexible LTPO OLED main screen. It looks like a regular smartphone with a 7.9-inch display when folded once and a 6.4-inch display when folded for the second time. It has a triple-camera setup and a 5,600mAh battery, which supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.
