Gemini Assistant will be to schedule tasks just like ChatGPT

Gemini: For example, do you want 5 new blog ideas every Sunday? Do you want a summary of your calendar and email every morning at 8 am? Or a reminder of your dentist appointment on Tuesday? Now Gemini can do all this on time. These Scheduled Actions can be managed by going to a special section in the app's settings.

If you have ever wished that your AI assistant could remember small things, then Google has fulfilled that wish. Google's smart AI chatbot Gemini has become even smarter. Its new feature, Scheduled Actions, makes it a digital butler that can work on your behalf by setting time.

The feature, which was first teased at Google I/O, is now being rolled out to select users of Android and iOS. Through this feature, you can instruct Gemini to repeat a task every week or at a specific time, and it will continue to perform that task without prompting again.

For example, want 5 new blog ideas every Sunday? A summary of your calendar and email every morning at 8 AM? Or a reminder of your dentist appointment on Tuesday? Now Gemini can do all of this on time. These Scheduled Actions can be managed in a special section in the app's settings.

This new tool in Gemini brings it closer to ChatGPT's "Tasks" feature, which OpenAI launched earlier this year. The only difference is that while ChatGPT sends reminders via email and app notifications, Gemini integrates directly with Google's services, such as Gmail, Calendar, and Docs. This results in a more seamless and centralized experience. You no longer have to ask the same question repeatedly every morning. Gemini will now determine on its own and present the same information or task to you at the scheduled time. This feature is currently available only to users with a Google AI Premium plan or those with an eligible Google Workspace business or education account. Users on the free or standard plan will have to wait a bit longer, but given Google's history, it's expected that this feature will eventually become available for free to all users, similar to how Smart Compose and Assistant Routines did.
