Elderly facing racism in Britain's care homes

In Britain, the concern for the safety of the elderly in care homes is now troubling the family members. This is the reason that there is talk of making strict rules regarding security, but no concrete steps have been taken so far. Here, on complaining about care homes, notices are being served to the elderly.
Not only this but they are also being evicted on repeated complaints. According to a recent Care Quality Commission report, there are currently 3.6 lakh elderly people living in care homes, which is 1.4% of the total population. Out of these, 6000 elders i.e. one percent have been warned to vacate by handing over notices.
According to a study, one in 70 elderly people in England had to leave care homes. More importantly, some elderly people are being subjected to racist abuse in care homes.
At the same time, some elders are in need of a special person to take care of them. Even in such a situation, the elderly are being evicted from care homes. Although the government has promised to introduce a Renters Reform Bill in Parliament to crack down on such cases, it has not taken action to protect residents of care homes.
Lord Hunt of King's Heath introduced a bill last year to give more legal rights to the care of residents of care homes. It also included a measure preventing providers from issuing notices within three months of a complaint.
Dr. Carolyn Green said the figures for care home evictions were an underestimate, as an institution stopped keeping records after more than 4 elderly people had been evicted. Care homes are also doing this due to the deteriorating condition of the elderly or bad relations with the staff.
