On Friday, during an Indigo flight from Delhi to Bangalore, a passenger tried to open the emergency gate. The passenger was drunk and was also misbehaving with the crew. Crew members informed the flight captain. The passenger was handed over to CISF when the flight reached Bengaluru. A case has been registered against him in 3 sections.
Indigo flight 6E 308 was going from Delhi to Bangalore. It also had a 40-year-old Prateek, a resident of Kanpur. Prateek was intoxicated. During the journey, he tried to open the emergency flap of the flight. After this, the crew stopped him. But he started behaving aggressively. After landing in Bengaluru, he was handed over to CISF.
The incident took place at 7.56 am. R Prateek was sitting on seat number 18F. The flight was handed over to the CISF upon arrival at 10.43 am. Where his breath analyzer test was done, in which Prateek came positive. Prateek works as a marketing executive in an e-commerce firm.
Prateek has been booked under IPC sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 290 (public nuisance) and section 11A (intentionally doing an unlawful act) of the Aircraft Act 1934 Has been done Prateek will be issued a notice under 41A CrPC.
Aviation Safety Consultant Captain Mohan Ranganathan told that opening the flap of the emergency door does not pose any security-related problem. When the flight is in the air, it is in a pressurized state and all exit gates are pressure locked. There is no question of any door opening in the middle of the air. until the flight lands. Emergency gates cannot be opened.
