According to the police, he created a trail of Instagram interactions and money transfers to suggest that she had left on her own, but the route actually led to him.
At first, Aftab Poonawala was interrogated on October 26 after Shraddha Walkar's father contacted the police in Vasai, close to Mumbai, last month. After an argument on May 22, he told the police that she had left their rental apartment in Chhatarpur in Delhi's Mehrauli neighbourhood.
It was then determined that he had already murdered her four days earlier. They had just moved to Delhi two weeks prior to this.
