A former CRPF officer has been arrested on Thursday for assaulting Congress MLA Rafiq Khan. Police said that Vikas Jakhar, who accused the MLA of harassing his wife, was caught and beaten up by people present at Khan's house in the Adarsh Nagar area of Jaipur.
Shaurya Chakra awardee Jakhar was overpowered before he could attack Khan, MLA from Adarsh Nagar, and the Congress Chief Whip in the Assembly. Balbir Kaswan, SHO of Sadar police station, said that Assistant Commandant Jakhar of CRPF reached Khan's residence, where a meeting was going on.
Kaswan said Jakhar grabbed the MLA by his collar during a heated argument with him. Before he could attack Khan, people present there caught him and gave him good thrashings, he said.
SHO said Jakhar was a resident of Jhunjhunu and had resigned from CRPF in 2021. "He has alleged harassment at the hands of MLA with his wife so he took the step in anger," he said.
