The thrill of IPL 2025 has reached its maximum. All of them are in a struggle to be in the playoffs. In the middle of all this, the AI robot dog 'Champak' is also in the news among cricket enthusiasts since he is spotted doing tricks in the middle of the match often. But now the BCCI is surrounded by the name of this AI robot. In fact, the publisher of kids' magazine 'Champak' has moved a case of trademark infringement in the Delhi High Court against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) because the name of the robot swan that was launched in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been named 'Champak'.

The AI-powered robot swan introduced as part of IPL's promotional activities was officially named Champak on April 23 after fans' voting, to which the publisher of the children's magazine 'Champak' objected. He claimed that this name is a violation of its registered and widely recognized trademark.

Justice Saurabh Banerjee, who heard the case on Wednesday, has issued a notice to the BCCI. In the Champak magazine case, the Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the BCCI and sought a reply. Now the next hearing of this case will be on July 9. The good thing for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is that it has refused to give an interim order on the use of the name without hearing it.

At the same time, advocate Amit Gupta, appearing on behalf of the plaintiff, argued that Champak magazine, known for stories and characters, has been a household name among children of all generations and the use of this name for a robot unit during a commercial cricket event by the BCCI clearly constitutes a case of unauthorized use.
